ABOUT MyonG

Hello, I’m Myong!

I am a 1.5-generation Korean American immigrant, parent, and partner. I am passionate about working with other people of color and immigrants and have been doing so for over 15 years. While everyone’s story is unique, many of the individuals I’ve worked with have shared how meaningful it is not to have to explain everything about their cultural background. I understand what it’s like to grow up in environments where mental health isn’t discussed, intergenerational patterns persist, and divides across culture, language, and values can emerge. At the same time, I have deep trust in each person’s ability to move forward with intention and live in alignment with their values. Some of my personal values that show up with me as a therapist include feminism, anti-racism, and a commitment to climate justice.

I take a ‘whole body’ approach to healing and believe change happens when we practice it, whether with our actions or our minds. I primarily use Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART), mindfulness, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) to support individuals in healing from trauma, getting in touch with the present moment, and shaping a meaningful life. Additionally, I incorporate somatic work and Internal Family Systems (IFS) to connect with our whole body wisdom. I take an integrated  and neuroscience-informed approach to mental health and enjoy helping people get sufficient sleep, nutrition, and movement to improve brain functioning. While understanding your past can provide helpful context, my focus is often on the present, where you have the most agency. If you are ready for support and guidance as you make changes in your life, I invite you to practice courage and reach out.
