ABOUT RAE
Let's be real; it's hard to navigate this world when you often have to conform to survive. As a bi-racial, complex being, I have lived with the impact of intergenerational mental health and addiction, which has influenced my career. This work has been a big part of my own healing journey. I believe in meeting clients where they are and supporting self-determination and bodily autonomy. We come into this world with a strong sense of self that may be invalidated as we are socialized and taught rules, expectations, and cultural norms. I believe that our coping is rooted in wisdom and I collaborate with clients to develop coping strategies that support their unique desires and ability to thrive.
My therapeutic approach incorporates mindfulness and narrative techniques, feminist therapy, somatic therapies, Body Trust®, person centered and trauma-and-attachment-informed care with an emphasis on healing in relationship. In an effort to restore self-trust, I explore family history, attachment and relationships, food and body, living environment, coping style, structural oppressions and other macro-level forces. I aim to provide a safe space for clients to show up as they are and be seen, understood, and unconditionally accepted.
